Acne is caused when hair follicles become blocked
In acne the glands begin to produce too much sebum and this excess sebum mixes dead skin cells and both substances form a plug in the follicle
If the plugged follicle is close to the surface of the skin ,it will bulge outwards, creating a whitehead .alternatively the plugged follicle can be open creating a blackhead.
Normally harmless bacteria that lives on the skin can then contaminate and infect the plugged follicles, causing papules, pustules ,nodules or cysts
Acne affect over 80% of us at some point in our lives
There is no known way to prevent acne from occurring
98% of dermatologists say patients discontinue their acne treatments/products if they do not see a result within 4 weeks
The aim of the treatment is to clear spots as much as possible and to prevent scarring. The treatment kills the bacteria that lives in the skin and plays a role in acne .The treatment also helps to control the excess oiliness of acne prone skin
Acne treatment takes time and patience and it varies from person to person. It can take a few weeks to months, depending on the severity of acne.
A little discomfort can be experienced when you have a non-ablative acne treatment and
side effects such as swelling and/or redness on the skin can be noticed which disappears within couple of hours.
